Wanna pack your bags, something small
Take what you need and we disappear
Without a trace we’ll be gone, gone
The moon and the stars, they will follow the car
And then when we get to the ocean
We’re gonna take a boat to the end of the world
All the way to the end of the world
Oh, and when the kids are old enough
We’re gon’ teach them to fly
You and me together could do anything, baby
You and me together, yes, yes
You and me together we could do anything, baby
You and me together, yes, yes
You and I, we’re not tied to the ground
Not falling but rising like rolling around
Eyes closed above the rooftops
Eyes closed, we’re gonna spin through the stars
Our arms wide as the sky
We’re gon’ ride the blue all the way to the end of the world
To the end of the world
Oh, and when the kids are old enough
We’re gon’ teach them to fly
You and me together we could do anything, baby
You and me together, yes, yes
You and me together, we could anything, baby
You and me together, yes, yes
We can always look back at what we did
Always remembering you and me, baby
But right now it’s you and me forever, girl
And you know we could do better than anything that we did
You know that you and me, we could do anything
You and me together, we could do anything, baby
You and me together, yes, yes
Two of us together, we could do anything, baby
You and me together, yeah, yeah
Two of us together, yeah, yeah
Two of us together, we could do anything, baby
Pack something small, ’til we reach the end of the world
Story
I’m not sure why, of all the songs out there, I decided I wanted to record this. It just made me feel good, when I listened to the Dave Matthews version. That’s the story! I got it to Paul Chester, for an arrangement and his cool guitar playin’ lays down a nice groove, throughout the whole song.
It has involved four studios to get to the final mix. It started in 2016, with my friend, Patty Sanders, at Sanders Sound Studio. From Thinking Dog Studio, Andrew Lienhard contributed his great piano/keyboard tracks. Then, in 2023, it landed at Sound Arts Studio, with Brian Baker. There, we redid bass, drums, percussion and vocals. Last step, it headed out to Colorado Springs, where Rick Harlow, at Masterpeace Studios, took care of the final mixing and mastering. This song is the most well traveled of all the tunes!
Milton Comeaux laid down percussion, on three tracks, February 10th. This song was the last one we did. I will never forget the joy and incredible energy he brought into the studio that day. That’s just what he always did..ask anyone! Unfortunately, he lost his battle to cancer, three months later, on May 15th. I feel extremely blessed to have him on my project.
I doubt Dave Matthews will ever know that I recorded his tune. I wish I could tell him how much I love singing it! I hope you’ll enjoy it!
